Boat Recall

An old U. S. Navy signal flag not found among current Navy signal flags consists of a white cross on a blue background, but the cross is upright instead of diagonal as on the Mike flag.

Shown in the October 1917 issue of the National Geographic Magazine as being the Boat Recall signal. "Displayed with a numerical signal, this flag summons the boat which has been assigned that particular number to return to the ship. Displayed alone, it recalls all boats then absent from the ship on which it is flying."

David Prothero, 29 July 2002

The General Recall Flag was first adopted in 1866.
